1) The average career length for a pro rugby player is 7 years. When he heard this he immediately began making plans & investments for life after the game.

2) He approaches business in the same way as rugby. Find the best people for your team & build systems around you to set that team up to win.

3) On seeking connections & taking chances

"You can shove the door open a little bit but then you gotta kick it open"

4) When planning, he establishes 10 yr, 5 yr, and 1 yr plans. He then breaks the year down into quarters.

5) He uses the Olympic rings as a virtual representation of the 5 areas in his life that need to be in balance.

6) A superb quote Jamie used when discussing overnight success.

"Gradually, then suddenly" Ernest Hemingway

7) Every Sunday, he spends 30/60 mins looking at what are the 3 things he needs to work on that week to move him towards the overarching goal. (as laid out in his 10, 5, 1-year plans above)

8) "If it's not in the calendar, it doesn't happen"

Jamie has a rigorous planning/calendar system to keep track of everything he's working on.

He uses a combination of Calendly, Todoist, Evernote & Notely as his productivity tools.

9) Jamie follows the @jockowillink approach "Discipline equals freedom."

10) "Are you a sayer or are you a doer?"

When choosing people to work with, Jamie first evaluates if someone is in business for the glory or if they truly want to be successful.

11) "I have them all written off. They are all zero in my book"

How Jamie avoids overthinking & becoming too emotionally attached to his investment portfolio.
